As part of a multi-layered collaboration with the EuroMed network Medinea (Mediterranean Incubator of Emerging Artists), we hosted intercultural residencies and workshops, performances, auditions for the Festival d’Aix en Provence, and research encounters between 2017 and 2019:

Intercultural Music Residencies:

  • led by Ahmed El Maghraby from the Egyptian Center for Culture and Arts – “Makan”, Cairo (2017)
  • led by Hassan Taha, Syrian composer and oud player (2018)
  • led by Louai Alhenawi, Syrian composer and ney player (2019)

Dialogue & Research Encounters:

  • Peripheries and Centres: Intercultural Perspectives (2017)
  • Rhythms of the City: a Public Debate (2018)
  • Trading Traditions: Festivals in the Mediterranean (2019)

MED Combo Valletta: a Concert of Ethnic Music (2017, 2018, 2019)

Mediterranean Youth Orchestra - Malta Auditions (2017, 2018, 2019)

An ARC Research & Consultancy project supported by Arts Council Malta and the Valletta 2018 Foundation Multi-Annual Support Grant (Malta Arts Fund), in collaboration with Medinea, Festival d’Aix-en-Provence, Spazju Kreattiv, the Malta Philharmonic Orchestra, and the Centre for Research in Culture and Performance at the University of Malta.
