Intercultural Music Workshop

17–19 March 2017

17:00 - 20:00 (FRI) & 09:00 - 12:00 (SAT, SUN)

Studio B, St James Cavalier - Valletta, Malta

The 3-day workshop will consist of 3 sessions of 3 hours each. The workshop will be conducted by Artistic Director Ahmed El Maghraby from the Egyptian Center for Culture and Arts – “Makan”, Cairo. Musicians participating in the 5-day residency will join the workshop. 

 

Musicians, singers and other performing artists interested in music and intercultural performance expression are eligible to apply. The workshop will focus on devised composition based on themes that will be decided later.

PARTICIPATION CONDITIONS

  • Participants are expected to be interested in ensemble work and the artistic encounter with performers from other musical cultures.

  • Professionals, amateurs, and students are eligible to apply.

  • Applicants should be between 18 and 31 years old.

  • Participants must be proficient and able to improvise. Musicians and other performers will participate in the workshop with solo improvisational work from the field of jazz, classical, folk, and traditional Mediterranean music.

A maximum of 20 participants will be selected.

 

ARC Research and Consultancy will not cover any cost related to the auditions and the residency.
