ARC Assistant Project Manager participates on panel of Forum Aberdeen: My Culture Your Politics

ARC Assistant Project Manager, Stephanie Bonnici, was part of the panel at Forum Aberdeen on Friday 6th October, representing ARC Research & Consultancy. Titled ‘My Culture Your Politics’, the forum placed the following question at the forefront of the debate: ‘Who assumes responsibility for Europe?’ It brought together present and former politicians, artists, journalists, academic and students to discuss European trends and to suggest how both culture and politics can be steered away from disaster. The debate explored the way culture is used as a code for isolationist and populist arguments, as well as for internationalist and pan European narratives.

As a speaker coming from the Mediterranean island of Malta, Ms Bonnici provided the perspective of ‘peripheries’ and ‘centres’ and how these effect the way in which the European Union is contrastingly viewed by Member States across the continent.

Stephanie Bonnici and ARC Managing Director Davinia Galea will be present at the ‘A Soul for Europe’ Conference in Berlin - hosted by A Soul for Europe and Cities for Europe, in November 2017. Provocations drawn out from Forum Aberdeen will be presented at the conference.
